OVERVIEW
Cool contest is an independent record label based in Los Angeles. they are rooted in house music and have a unique voice in the music scene. Their left-field sound needed visuals which matched the brands slightly comedic undertones. I wanted to make their branding playful and non-traditional, and create a vibe that was loud, bold and random, yet lived within the structure of traditional graphic design visual grids. The colors and graphics were designed to provoke and entertain. No idea is too outlandish when working with the team from Cool Contest.

COOL CONTEST APPAREL : GRAPHICS AND ILLUSTRATION

House music, skateboarding, typography design and various random references are the main inspiration for the collection. The designs are abstract collages consisting of bold graphics with slightly off-kilter layout and execution.  Harkening back to the namesake of the brand by trying to create something familiar yet completely new and random. Most of the designs have depth and contain hidden messages and other jokes and influences of the Cool Contest brand and crew.

I created the branding for the FIGHT NIGHT warehouse event. Relying heavily on custom typography I made an eye-catching poster that was hard to ignore.
